Michaud Statement on Boston Marathon Bombing Anniversary

Statement

Date: April 15, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Mike Michaud issued the following statement today to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing:

"One year ago today, a time-honored tradition was disrupted by an act of violence that claimed three lives and injured hundreds. While we remember those killed and injured in the bombing, we also remember the incredible acts of heroism we saw that day and in the days that followed -- from spectators and runners who fearlessly became first responders, to the law enforcement officials who worked to bring the perpetrators to justice.

"Over the past year, we have again been reminded of why the Boston Marathon is so special -- and why the New England spirit so resilient. Today and in the days leading up to this year's race, I'll be thinking of all those affected by last year's tragedy, and of those who refuse to stand down in the face of fear and are participating in this year's marathon."
